Description | Established in 1897 by John D. Daly, the Corvallis Oregon Union reflected Republican ideals and provided comprehensive local and global news. After merging with the Corvallis Gazette in 1899, it became The Union Gazette, emphasizing its commitment to Republican principles. Daly and George Paul spearheaded its editorial direction. Despite Daly's legislative roles, the paper's momentum waned, and by April 1900, it reverted to the Corvallis Gazette. Transitioning to semiweekly publication, it briefly offered specialized content before ultimately ceasing operations in May 1909, evolving into the Corvallis Weekly Gazette under Charles L. Springer. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1863 of this newspaper. |
