Description | The Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), University of Kashmir, proudly offers a timely and engaging Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Effective Decision Making. Decision-making is a fundamental part of daily life and professional success. This course explores the concept, nature, characteristics, and types of decisions, as well as the factors influencing decision-making and various decision-making theories. Decision-making is the process of choosing a preferred option or course of action from among a set of alternatives based on given criteria or strategies. It involves mental activities that help select the best alternative. For example, imagine you have just cleared your board exams and need to decide which subjects to choose next — Arts, Commerce, Medical, Non-Medical, or Home Science. How do you make this decision? Or suppose you are at a new restaurant where every item is highly rated — how do you decide what to eat? Decisions shape our lives every day. Some decisions are simple, like what to eat, while others have far-reaching consequences, such as career choices. To be precise, decision-making helps reduce the gap between the current situation and the desired goal by selecting the best possible alternative, often involving problem-solving and utilizing available opportunities. |
