Description | Development Administration is a vital subfield of Public Administration and holds a significant position in Political Science and Public Policy—especially in the context of the developing world. This course explores Development Administration as more than just an administrative tool; it is a proactive instrument of change aimed at improving societal well-being, fostering sustainable development, and addressing complex challenges. Emerging in the early 1960s in the West, Development Administration soon became an integral part of academic and policy discourse in South Asia, particularly in India. Today, it is both a discipline and a practical framework that focuses on managing and implementing policies and programs to promote socio-economic development. This course highlights how Development Administration plays a pivotal role in: Economic planning and resource mobilization; Policy implementation; Social engineering and inclusive governance; Enhancing institutional capacity to serve people.Course Objectives are Understand the nature and evolution of Development Administration as a discipline., Engage with various theoretical and contemporary debates in development, including environmental concerns., Analyze the role of non-state actors and public-private partnerships in the development process., Explore the intersection of gender and development administration., Gain critical insights into the working of development administration in the Indian context.This course is more than just academic content—it's an invitation to explore the mechanisms of change and governance that shape our society. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
