Abstract | This is a report of the projects undertaken by me during my internship at Amazon.com. During my internship I was part of the Amazon Custom team, an experimental new Marketplace that sells customized products. During my internship, I addressed 2 pain points that came up during the developement of our team’s platform. First was assessing the User Experience. Since this a new business for Amazon.com, they currently lack any (good or bad) data points on customer’s experience of the customization process, potential buyers currently on Amazon, most popular customization and other such things. To capture this kind of information the front-end was modified to track user activity , which was then collated and displayed by a back-end service. By the use of this process, valuable customer patterns was identified for planning the future roadmaps of the business The second issue was to introduce continuous deployment in the deployment process. Due to the large code base at Amazon, it is a hard and cumbersome task to do manual integration and API testing of the hundreds of packages. To resolve this issue an automated testing process was introduced in the development cycle. The various services were analyzed to recognize all edge cases, as well as workflow were indentified that would help run integration tests of all the major services. This addition addressed a major development issue and ensured code quality for the future. |
