Description | Four-panel comic strip showing Pete, a bearded prospector, and his young friend Kid Sid struggling across the Arctic. Pete, showing the wilderness skills and optimism that have preserved him through the years, sets Sid's broken leg and concludes: "Reckon this here life of adventure has got to have some gall an' wormwood -- can't be ALL ice cream and apple-pie!" The strip, published in the Newark Evening News from Mar. 29-Oct. 2, 1926, was based on the cartoonist's experiences prospecting in the Klondike. |
