Description | Three-panel comic strip shows soldiers, Steve Canyon among them, climbing over the top of a motorbus to engage enemy soldiers at the rear of the motorbus. In 1947, Milton Caniff created a postwar adventure comic strip featuring Steve Canyon, owner of Horizons Unlimited, toughened by his World War II experience and tackling dangerous assignments. The part of the series that has come to be known as "The Nine Maid" ran from March 28 to May 23, 1948 and described how Canyon and his sidekick Happy Easter, stranded in the Middle East, became captives of a woman claiming to be a descendant of survivors of the Christian's Ninth Crusade. Steve Canyon ended with the death of its creator in 1988. |
