Description | Photographs show cities and towns, people, and archaeological and historical sites in Egypt. Depicted in Alexandria are the harbor, a market, and Mohammed Ali Place. In Cairo are shown the Tombs of the Khalifs, the Tombs of the Mamluks, Muski Street, the Nile bridge, a man and priests at location called "Shekh el Sadaat", the mosque of Mohammed Ali, a horse-drawn carriage of the Khedive, potttery kilns, street scenes, the "University of Cairo" (al-Ahzar), a Muslim cemetery, and a sarcophagus in the Tomb of the Bulls. Also depicted are the pyramids, the Sphinx, the museum, and Bedouins in Gizeh; the obelisk, an ostrich farm, and the Virgin's Tree in Heliopolis; the Ramses II statue at Memphis, the step pyramid at Sakkara, the Temple of Ammon at Karnak, the Temple of Luxor; the Temple of Sethos I, the Necropolis, the Colossi of Memmon, and Medinet Habu at Thebes; the Temple of Hathor on the Island of Philae, a sakiyeh (irrigation water wheel) at Abydos, boats on the Nile River and camels. |
