Headnote | Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012(POCSO) – Implementation of – Keeping in view the protection ofthe children and the statutory scheme conceived under the POCSOAct, directions issued so that the legislative intent and the purposeare actually fructified at the ground level – Held: (i) The High Courtsto ensure that the cases registered under the POCSO Act are triedand disposed of by the Special Courts and the presiding officers ofthe said courts are sensitized in the matters of child protection andpsychological response; (ii) The Special Courts be established, ifnot already done, and be assigned the responsibility to deal withcases under the POCSO Act; (iii) Instructions be issued to the SpecialCourts to fast track the cases by not grant ing unnecessaryadjournments and complete the trial in a time-bound manner orwithin a specific time frame under the POCSO Act; (iv)The ChiefJustices of the High Courts to constitute a Committee of Judges toregulate and monitor the progress of the trials under the POCSOAct; (v) The Director General of Police or the officer of equivalentrank of the States to constitute a Special Task Force which shallensure that the investigation is properly conducted and witnessesare produced on the dates fixed before the trial courts; (vi) Adequatesteps to be taken by the High Courts to provide child friendlyatmosphere in the Special Courts keeping in view the provisions ofthe POCSO Act so that the spirit of the Act is observed.Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012(POCSO) – The Statement of Objects and reasons of the Act –Discussed. |

It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
