Headnote | Industrial Disputes Act, 1947:Retrenchment-Reporter of a newspaper-Retrenchment of-Challengedas effected without complying with provisions of the Act-Labour Court orderedreinstatement-Employer's contention before High Court that IndustrialDisputes Act had no application to the case rejected-Held, in view ofprovisions of ss. 3 and I 1 of Working Journalists and other NewspaperEmployees (Conditions of Service and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1955, itcannot be said that the Board constituted under 1955 Act had the jurisdictionand not the Labour Court-The Board constituted u/s 1 I of 1955 Act is nota substitute/or Labour Court-The Board is mainly for considering the workingconditions of the newspaper employees and also to fix rates of wages ofworking journalists from time to time-The provisions contained in the 1955Act do not say that all disputes relating to working journalists shall beconsidered and decided by the Board-The Board can decide only thosedisputes which are re/erred to it-Besides, the employer did not raise anyobjection before Labour Court as to its jurisdiction to decide the dispute-Norwas the reference order challenged 011 this ground-High Court rightlydismissed employer's writ petition-Working Journalists and Other Newspapers(Conditions of Service and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1955-Ss. 3 andIJ. |

It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
