Description | Narrator is Howard Goodall. Melody is music’s most powerful tool when it comes to touching our emotions. Tunes touch our deepest emotions, and are capable of inspiring love, sorrow, faith, and hope. Video discusses vocabulary associated with melody, pentatonic which is the five black keys on the piano. There are three main elements to melody: notes you choose, how high or low the notes are, and the pattern they make one after the other. The measuring of how high or low the notes are, is called pitch. Intervals are also discussed, which is the distance between notes. Video plays a variety of different melody pieces of music and samples of melody that help to define the vocabulary and concepts. |
