| Abstract | Co-polymers of N-phenyl methacrylamide and glycidyl methacrylate of different compositions were synthesized by free radical solution co-polymerization of the monomers in dimethylformamide using benzoyl peroxide as the initiator at 70°C. Solubility of the co-polymers was tested in various solvents. The molecular structure of the co-polymers was elucidated by infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The composition of the co-polymers was determined from their 1H-NMR spectra by using the intensities of aliphatic and aromatic protons present in the co-polymer. The Finemann–Ross and Kelen–Tüdos models have been employed to determine the reactivity ratios of the monomers. The intrinsic viscosities of the co-polymers of GMA and PMA were determined using a Ubblehode viscometer. The thermal transitions of the co-polymers were determined using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
