| Abstract | An experiment consisting of twenty seed sources of Asparagus racemosus was planted in randomized block design with three replications during February 2007 at Forest Research Institute Dehradun, India. Observations were recorded at the age of two and half years to assess them for various growth parameters to know association pattern for trait of economic interest for formulation of suitable selection strategy for genetic improvement. Correlation coefficients suggested that shoot dry weight, maximum shoot height, number of tubers, number of shoots and tuber length had positive and highly significant association with tuber dry weight, hence tuber dry weight can be increased indirectly through these correlated characters. Positive correlation may be attributed to the coupling phase of linkage. Path coefficients at genotypic and phenotypic level revealed that the maximum positive direct effect on tuber dry weight was exerted by shoot dry weight. However, maximum shoot height, tuber length, number of shoots and number of tubers through shoot dry weight have high order positive indirect effect on tuber dry weight. It is clear from estimates of correlation coefficients that above cited traits have significantly positive associations. It is suggested that during formulating selection strategies higher tuber yield weightage should be given to these traits. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
