| Abstract | Pinus brutia Ten. subspecies brutia, which occurs in the Eastern Mediterranean region, is the main forest species in Syria and important for multi-purpose forestry. In this study, 6,631 10-year past growth diameter increment measurements were taken in 83 temporary sample plots. The current breast height diameter of all trees was measured and a sample of trees was measured for height and age. The plots were placed so as to capture the whole range of variation in site quality, stand age and stand density. The data were used to develop the following models: Dominant height model: the guide curve method was used to fit an anamorphic site index model between stand age and dominant height.Individual-tree diameter increment model: future 10-year diameter increment was modelled as a function of site index, stand basal area, basal area of trees larger than the subject tree, slope, aspect and diameter at breast height (dbh).Tree height model: tree height was modelled as a function of dbh, dominant height and dominant diameter.Self-thinning: the plots which have reached the self-thinning limit were selected and the (maximum) number of trees per hectare was modelled as a function of mean diameter and site index.The set of models enables the simulation of forest stand dynamics on an individual-tree basis. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
