| Abstract | Sugarcane being an important cash crop of India, is cultivated in different Agro-Climatic condition. Weeds are growing along with sugarcane and limits the cane and sugar yield according to the species and intensity. Shift in weed flora was observed due to following the same method of weed management practice for long period. Sedges like Cyperus sp. has been shifted from annuals and broad-leaved weeds by spraying the pre- emergence herbicide viz.,Atrazine. The sedges can also be controlled by spraying of total weed killer (Glyphosate). Further, the nature has encouraged the weeds of twining habit, which are germinated and growing by climbing on the sugarcane stalks after the earthing up operation. These weeds are posing several problems like blocking the sunlight to the cane crop by spreading their branches on the top plane. It also gives trouble to the harvesting labour and increasing the cost of operation. Hence, twining weeds are to be completely controlled by following a suitable measures . With this objective a study was carried out during special season of 2001–02 and 2002–03 at Sugarcane Research Station, Sirugamani, Trichirappalli district where cane is cultivated under flow irrigated condition. Among the different weed management methods, spraying of pre-emergence spray of atrazine @ 1.0 kg/ha followed by post-emergence spray of 2,4-D Na salt @ 1.0 kg/ha on 110 DAP had high weed control efficiency onIpomoea sepiaria and registered the highest cane and sugar yield. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
