| Abstract | Various metal chloride-modified titanium(IV) oxide (TiO$_{2}$) (MCMT) samples were prepared by loading metal chloride on commercial TiO$_{2}$ nanoparticles (Ishihara ST-01) having a large specific surface area and used for photoinduced oxidative removal of nitrogen oxides (NO$_{ x }$) in air under irradiation of visible light and/or ultraviolet (UV) light. The NO$_{ x }$ removal activity of MCMT samples under photoirradiation from a blue fluorescent lamp (BFL) with a UV cut filter decreased in the following order: RhCl$_{3}$/ST-01>H$_{2}$PtCl$_{6}$/ST-01>RuCl$_{3}$/ST-01>ST-01>IrCl$_{4}$/ST-01>HAuCl$_{4}$/ST-01, indicating that RhCl$_{3}$. H$_{2}$PtCl$_{6}$ and RuCl$_{3}$ fixed on TiO$_{2}$ effectively worked as photosensitizers for NO$_{ x }$ removal. NO$_{ x }$ was almost quantitatively fixed as nitrate on RhCl$_{3}$/ST-01 photoirradiated with BFL or blue light-emitting diodes. Under irradiation of both visible light and UV light from a white fluorescent lamp, RhCl$_{3}$/ST-01 exhibited a higher level of removal of NO$_{ x }$ and a much lower level of release of nitrogen dioxide than did bare ST-01, indicating that RhCl$_{3}$/ST-01 effectively utilized both visible light and UV light and that two types of reaction (photosensitization by fixed RhCl$_{3}$ and photocatalysis by TiO$_{2}$) occurred over RhCl$_{3}$/ST-01. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
