NDLI: Triphenylamine as a conductive solid material for fabricating carbon electrodes

Abstract	A new carbon composite electrode was prepared in which solid triphenylamine is used as a binder. The fabrication is based on a simple heating method. As a kind of hole-conductor material, the new electrode possesses attractive electrochemical properties. The quasi-reversible electroactive species dopamine and catechol were investigated with this electrode. Compared to the nonconductive liquid binder paraffin oil, this binder remarkably improves the mechanical stability of the carbon electrode and increases the electron transfer rate. The electrode also displays physical and chemical inertness, low background, large potential window, low ohmic resistance and high stability.
