| Abstract | The soil quality can be altered by natural events or when submitted to cultivation. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the chemical properties of soils from different vegetation cover and management systems. For that, samples of soils, in the 10-20 cm depth layer, were collected in six areas with different types of vegetation cover and cropping systems to analyze their chemical properties. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the Scott-Knott test at 5% probability. It was verified that organic matter and organic carbon levels were higher in the remaining areas of agricultural crop, natural forest, agroforestry system and permaculture cultivation system. The P level was higher in soil from permaculture cultivation system, while K was higher in soil from agroforestry system. The soil pH, calcium, magnesium, sum of bases (SB), saturation of bases (V) and saturation by aluminum (m), in general, had their best indexes in soil from permaculture cultivation system. The results indicate that agroecological and vegetation based crop systems increase or maintain the natural fertility of soils and, therefore, contribute to the improvement of their quality. |
