| Abstract | The study aimed at evaluating the spatial patterns of physical-chemical aspects of soils in different types of land cover in the river basin on the southeast of São Paulo. The variables total organic carbon, organic matter and texture (clay, silt and sand) were analyzed in 35 sample points, in different types of vegetal covers. From the results obtained in the laboratory, interpolation methods, multivariate analysis and descriptive statistics were applied. Soils with the presence of pasture had the highest total organic carbon and organic matter, while temporary crops presented lower content. Pasturelands’ roots structures explain potentialization in carbon storage, since soil management and weathering may account for the results of temporary crops. Soil erodibility was higher in the basin’s middle course, where the Latosols and Argisols occur and the largest areas of temporary crops. The variable texture was the one that presented the greatest influence in hierarchical grouping and the forests and temporary crops registered the greatest similarities between the analyzed variables. |
