| Abstract | The purpose of the experiment was to determine the distribution of the entomopathogenic nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophora applied through a drip irrigation system and its movement on the soil. In the distribution experiment, the test used a completely randomized design (DCA) with a factorial arrangement of 2 x 2 x 18 (72 treatments) with four reapplications per treatment (288 experimental units). Two injection systems were evaluated, using venturi and a motor jet pump, piping water pressurized at 10 psi and without initial pressure. When comparing venturi injection and engine pumps there were no significant differences in the number of total nematodes collected at eighteen distances. When comparing the two methods of application, pressurized and unpressurized tubing, the number of nematodes/ml found in the pressurized pipe was greater. In the displacement test, which measured the movement, four depths were evaluated with three reapplications using a completely at random design. Nematodes (37000 infective juvenile) were applied into a solution of 1500 ml of water, and then distributed in a 45 cm linear area for each repetition. 24 hours after application, soil samples were taken from each depth, 0-5, 10-15, 20-25, 30-35 cm. The results showed us that the nematode achieved to crawl to the top of 15 cm of soil during the first 24 hours after application. |
