| Abstract | The Division of Cosmetic Sciences is part of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hamburg. Since 2000, it is under direction of a dermatologist, but follows an interdisciplinary course integrating dermatocosmetic, chemical and sociocultural aspects. In fall 2007, the scholastics changed into the international BA/MA-system. The teachings, but also the research, cover a wide field. This is documented by various publications and projects. Evidence-based research in cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic chemistry and aesthetical as well as sociocultural aspects is performed. Moreover, cosmetic procedures like treatments with fillers, botulinumtoxin A or chemical peels are performed for patients by dermatologists. The specific goal of the Division of Cosmetic Sciences in Hamburg is to create a link between the fields of dermatology and cosmetic chemistry featuring a better flow of information towards evidence-based cosmetic sciences. |
