| Abstract | After the awareness of the scarcity of water and its vital importance, it is urgent to promote the sustainable and integrated management. In this sense and then identified the most serious problems as the conflicting needs of different consumers, the challenges posed by the imbalances between water availability and needs while maintaining the quality of water, there are measures and guidelines to the Directiva Quadro da Agua, DQA, imposed by the European Union, EU. Systems for decision support have made a significant contribution in water management, particularly of the basin, allowing the basin modelling and simulation of scenarios designed to answer the questions and finally decide, in accordance with the objectives. For this, was used the MIKE BASIN software at the river basin Pinhao, with the help of a GIS platform, which allows the modelling of the basin in a temporal and spatial way, facilitates the visualization and the interpretation of results. After modelling geographical basin are introduced the input data. This way the system is prepared and simulates the situation for the year 2008 to ensure the operability and confidence in the model, and then other scenarios are simulated. According to the results obtained it appears that at present, the basin meets the water needs considered. We can verify that the Pinhao reservoir allows satisfying all the simulations considering the increase of domestic consumption due the population increasing (2010), and also the rainfall decline (2070). The same doesn’t occur in the irrigation of agriculture and vineyard, whose needs are not satisfied with the water in the river. Thus, given the importance of vineyards in the Douro, dam simulation became relevant to answer the needs of the vineyard. The simulated dam, due to the volume of water accumulated satisfies the needs of the irrigation of vineyards in 2010, and does not in 2070, due to decrease rainfall. Based on the obtained results becomes preponderant evaluate these issues and promote a sustainable and integrated management of water resources to respond timely to the needs. |
