| Abstract | The need for tools and methods for knowledge based systems validation no longer needs to be emphasized. Although many tools have been developed for this purpose, most of them are restricted to knowledge bases which are written with formalisms based on classical logic. Nevertheless this logic has shown its limitations; in particular, one cannot correctly represent and handle common sense knowledge. In this paper, we adapt these existing definitions and methods to uncertain and imprecise knowledge bases. The framework chosen for the management of uncertainty and imprecision is approximate or fuzzy reasoning, which is based on fuzzy sets and possibility theory. Within this framework, we refine the concept of consistency by inuoducing the notion of degree of inconsistency. We also show how to use semantic constraints in order to determine inconsistent input sets. |
