| Abstract | Nowadays it is important to think about strategies that can be capable of reconciling economic growth with the appropriate use of natural resources. Specifically, tourism is a common activity that propitiates economic growth in different regions. In the current situation, this activity becomes more relevant due to the improvement of aspects like means of transportation and the increased purchasing power. Among the most common phenomena of environmental impact is the inadequate use of natural resources, the inadequate disposal of solid wastes, the improper use of land, water and electricity and the contamination of water sources. Due to these factors, the concept of sustainable tourism appears as an alternative to develop this activity in a more responsible way regarding to the environment. This research takes into account that context. This paper attempts to investigate the inner dynamics of tourism in Cumbal, Narino in order to formulate strategies that allows participatory planning of tourism so that it can promote sustainable development. To this end, mechanisms of active participation that involve the community are used. As a result of the works made it was shown that Cumbal has a potential of developing sustainable tourism towards the active participation of the people. |
