| Abstract | In our country young people are the social actors with the lowest rate in democratic participation, so the relationship between young people and democracy seems to be characterized by a rift between them. This led us to question the perception of the concept of democracy of the eighth and ninth semester students of the BA program in Spanish, English and French of the La Salle University in front of the student representation in the La Salle University. In order to improve the democratic exercise of university students, this article reports the perceptions of democracy of the students at the University of La Salle facing the student representation within the university. The research was developed from the methodological perspective of qualitative research by applying an interview consisting of 11 questions to 15 young students of the BA program in Spanish, English and French at La Salle University. The field of interest is focused on the notion young people have about the concept of democracy, notions created by young people open the possibility of improving democratic practices within the institution.
