Abstract	L anxiete et la douleur des patients peuvent etre prises en charge au cabinet dentaire par des techniques de distraction. Utilisee depuis une dizaine d annees, la Realite Virtuelle (RV) permet de distraire le patient par immersion dans un programme audiovisuel interactif. Dans un premier temps, un dispositif de RV adapte au fauteuil dentaire sera decrit. Ensuite, l efficacite d une distraction par RV dans la prise en charge de l anxiete et de la douleur au cabinet dentaire sera etudiee. Elle sera enfin comparee a d autres techniques de distraction et au MEOPA, afin d evaluer l interet de son utilisation lors des soins dentaires. Anxiety and pain of patients can be supported in the dental office by distraction techniques. Used since ten years virtual reality (VR) distracts the patient by immersion in an interactive audiovisual programme. First, a VR device applied to the dental chair will be described. Then the effectiveness of a distraction by VR in the treatment of anxiety and pain in the dental office will be reviewed. Finally, it will be compared to the other distractions techniques and nitrous oxide sedation, to assess the interest of its use in dental care.
