| Abstract | After the fusion of the news media groups El Comercio y Epensa, in August 2013, it started a media debate about the existence of the press concentration in Peru. Since then the discussion has been considered an important part of the public agenda and there is not consensus among the agents involved. The State has tried to take part in the matter, slipping the idead that in Peru there is a need for a press regulation (law). In this context, the following paper explains the inception of the polemic, analysing the stances of the agents, and proposing a posible solution to the debate which includes taking into account the nature of the press work. The following research considers an analysis of the publications coming from all the media involved and, it reviews the Peruvian laws related to the matter, as well as international legal regulations about this topic. |
