| Abstract | This study was conducted with the aim of presenting data on the causes of truancy in the undergraduate course, the distance, in Economics, Federal University of Santa Catarina. Although great social relevance, political and educational truancy causes many researchers suffer from the need to analyze their causes, not only through its quantitative dimensions, but also in qualitative terms. The dropout in higher education and distance has been a major concern of managers of universities. This work aims to verify the causes of evasion undergraduate degree in Economics, distance mode, the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The target audience of the study were students who dropped out during the period 20072012.'s Research was grounded in the literature on higher education, distance education and university dropout. The technique used was a quantitative character, characterized as a descriptive research. The main findings of this research indicated mainly for the need to conduct a greater amount of physical meetings; for better motivation of teachers; for hiring tutors with degrees in Economics and a greater impairment of coordination in order to solve the problems presented by the students. |
