| Abstract | In wastewater treatment processes, it is important to analyze the substances which are present in solution, since certain compounds can interfere with the biological treatment process. Thus, the influence of the biomass concentration, the presence of vegetable oils, vegetable oils burned, salts and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in the activated sludge process were evaluated in this study. For this purpose, batch bioassays with a synthetic wastewater sample based on glucose were performed under aerobic conditions. An enrichment glucose culture generated from an activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Quito was employed in the bioassays as microbial inoculum. |
