| Abstract | Hair colour is one of decorative cosmetics. Hair colour which is used on the outer skin can dangerous for human, because skin can absorb the substances. There was found lead intake of hair colour, with the aim to improve black that gived. The aim of this study is to check intake of lead in hair colour and compare them with the maximum limit from Regulations Minister of Health RI, Number : 376/Menkes/Per/VIII/1990. The sample that studied are 4 brands of hair colour powder form which are sell in the market center (Pusat Pasar) of Medan City. Determination of lead was done by qualitatively and quantitatively methods. Qualitative analysis using dithizon 0,005% b/v reagent, while quantitative analysis of lead using atomic absorption spectrometry at wavelengths 283,3 nm. Based on an analysis result, contain of lead in hair colour that dissolved in HNO3 5N is 0,00019 ± 0,000081% for hair colour with brand TC, 0,0031 ± 0,000229 % for hair colour with brand BP, 0,0050 ± 0,000105% for hair colour with brand TL, and 0,0039 ± 0,000093% for hair colour with brand PC. For hair colour that dissolved in HNO3 10N its lead content are 0,0078 ± 0,000455% for hair colour with brand TC, 0,0036 ± 0,000363% for hair colour with brand BP, 0,0084 ± 0,000105% for hair colour with brand TL, and 0,0221 ± 0,000471 % for hair colour with brand PC. From this research, it is known that lead was still present in hair colour powder but still below the requirement which is allowed. |
