| Abstract | The electronic spin in semiconductors is currently the object of numerous investigations. As a two level quantum system, it could form the basis of a future quantum computer (a quantum bit). Its performance would be limited by the decoherence of the up and down states superposition of the quantum bit. The challenge is thus to build a system in which the coherence time would be long enough to allow quantum information processing. In this context, quantum dots charged with only one electron are promising candidates. In these nanoscale systems, the energy levels are discrete, therefore most spin relaxation mechanisms are suppressed. This PhD work concerns the determination of the spin relaxation time in quantum dots. |
