| Abstract | The article discusses the role of the media in the configuration of the political climate of the country, highlighting its performance in the management of appearances of politicians and public affections. To demonstrate this influence, he presents a comparison between two important historical moments in Brazilian political life: the civil-military coup of 1964, which Joao Goulart deposed, and that of 2016, marked by the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff. In addition to demonstrating the similarities of the media’s performance in each context, it points out the specifics of each moment, highlighting the social media’s action to create a climate of hatred and intolerance towards President Dilma, her political party and social movements and of human rights. |
