| Abstract | Summary The development of the ASIC modulator chip isscheduled for completion in January 2001. with plansof integrating the ASIC chip with additional electronicsto develop a space ready modulator module. Themodulator module will utilize the rad-hard ASIC withassociated D/A converters, interface and controlcircuitry, and RF electronics aimed at meeting the futurehigh data rate communications needs of NASAmissions. Plans are to develop the companiondemodulator ASIC as funding becomes available.This technology will demonstrate the viability ofbandwidth efficient modulation, when combined withnon-linear amplification mitigation techniques, that willmeet the needs of future NASA missions which havetypically relied on bandwidth inefficient schemes in thepast. The programmabili_' and adaptability of thecurrent design will meet the future changing needs ofnext generation NASA missions and commercialapplications allowing for the seamless integration ofdata between Government and commercial systems. |
