| Abstract | Chlorophenol contamination can cause mainly cause damage to the liver and the immune system. This work presents a rapid, sensitive and reliable method for the phenol and pentachlorophenol determination. The criteria for selection of the studied analite were conducted according to the need to determine the specie concentration that defines the degree of toxicity of drinking water matrix. With 9 g/L pentachlorophenol is already at the maximum allowable limit, in this way it is defined as the most dangerous of the chlorophenols family compound. These compounds can be formatted in drinking water when chlorine is added during the process of disinfection in the presence of phenol in natural or treated waters. The calibration of the HPLC system thus achieved is linear in the range 0;1 1;5 mg/L. The precision, expressed as relative standard deviation for 1,0 mg/L of pentachlorophenol and 1,0 mg/L of phenol (n = 11;P = 0; 05) was calculated for each one of the compounds. The values obtained were 0,1092 and 0,0850 respectively. The real samples were pre-concentration with a C18 minicolumn and subsequently evaluated by the proposed method. |
