| Abstract | The rock shelter of Pinos (Benissa, Alicante) is one of the more than 200 archeological sites with neolithic rock art known in the province of Alicante. Besides being considered a BIC, this site was included in the set of Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula in 1998, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage. This status, together with the interest of the city in the rock shelter, has allowed us to develop several projects focused on conservation, study and dissemination, the latter of which has driven a review of the representations in the site, whose results are presented in this article. Likewise, the aim of this text is to highlight the importance that these actions have not only to make progress in the conservation and research of rock art, but also in the important dissemination task that must be done from the sites themselves and the cities protecting those. |
