Abstract	EnglishThis essay deals with the problem of banning in ethics and morality. The author believes that the deficiency of effectiveness of ethical and moral proposals that have been developed throughout history respond to the fact that lots of prohibitions rather than encouraging a virtuous moral behavior of the human beings provoke and stimulate the rejection of ethical rules imposed by society. Standing from a philosophical position, but aided by disciplines such as psychiatry and psychology, the occurrences in which human nature leads him to proceed contrary to what the moralists seek is examined. Besides, it is argues that many proscriptions and moral obligations should be discarded for unnecessary and counterproductive. portuguesEn este ensayo se reflexiona en torno a la funcion de las prohibiciones en la etica y la moral. El autor considera que la falta de efectividad de las propuestas eticas que se han elaborado a traves de la historia responde a que las prohibiciones, mas que alentar al buen proceder moral de los seres humanos, provocan y estimulan el rechazo a las normas impuestas por la sociedad. Partiendo desde una postura filosofica, pero auxiliado por disciplinas como la psiquiatria y la psicologia, se examinan las instancias en las que la naturaleza del ser humano lo lleva a proceder contrario a lo que los moralistas procuran. Se argumenta, ademas, que muchas de las proscripciones y obligaciones morales deben ser descartadas por innecesarias y contraproducentes.
