| Abstract | This study was intended to examine the correlation between students' self – esteem and their English speaking competencies at a Senior High School in Cimahi. Sixty two students of eleventh grade were involved. The self – esteem questionnaire and the speaking test were given to the students to measure the level of their self – esteem and their English speaking competencies. The scores were calculated in IBM SPSS 22 to find out the correlation of the two variables. The findings showed there was a positive significant correlation between students' self – esteem and their English speaking competencies at the moderate level. This study concluded that self – esteem is taken into consideration to students' achievement in speaking English. |
