| Abstract | The author analyses the problem of the influence of activating methods on the social competence of preschool children. The author commenced by quoting the definition of social competence and the characteristics of constructivist theory, which gave rise to an activating educational strategy. This theoretical introduction is the background for the described research involving 5- and 6-year-old children attending one of the kindergartens in Silesia. In order to find the answer to the main research question, namely: “what is the influence of activating methods on social competence of preschool children?” an ex-post-facto experiment was conducted. There were two groups in the experimental study. In one of the groups an experimental factor – the lessons carried out by activating methods – was introduced. The results of the explorations confirm the hypothesis that activating methods play a significant role in shaping children’s social competences and foster the overall process of socialization. |
