| Abstract | Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors associated to the fecal carriage Enterobacteria producing Extended Spectrum Beta-lactamases (EB-ESBL) in patients admitted to the CHU of Bejaia. Method: Rectal swabs are conducted with 84 patients. The identification of isolates was used to study the sensitivity to antibiotics susceptibility testing, detection of ESBLs by the synergy test and the achievement of other tests (CMI, modified Hodge test and search the production of AAC(6)'IBCR enzyme). A logistic model was used to determine possible associations between risk factors and the EB-ESBL identified. Results: In total 94 strains resistant to CTX (2μg/ml) were isolated and identified 81 that are Enterobacteriaceae and 13 Pseudomonas sp. 64.89% of the ESBL-producing strains with the dominance of CTX-M ESBL phenotype. The frequency of EB-ESBL in our study was 72.83% (59/81) with the prevalence of K. pneumoniae (24/59). High rates of resistance were recorded towards β-lactams except imipenem. Associated with resistance against others antibiotics were observed. MICs obtained are high against the ceftazidime. Conclusion: The statistical study of the different rates of ESBL production showed that the transfers between hospitals are the only risk factor observed for acquisition of ESBL-EB. |
