Abstract	Objective: To determine the association between knowledge of harm to health and consumption of alcohol and tobacco in high school students of 5th grade in San Juan de Miraflores, Lima. Methods: Observational, transversal, analytical study, with quantitative approach. It was worked with a population of 140 students of the 5th grade of the IEN school "San Juan Base Center" San Juan de Miraflores, Lima and was measured the knowledge of damage to health, through a revalidated survey that was carried out in Chosica by Escalante, in addition to other variables such as intrafamily violence, antecedent of consumption in the parents, low academic level. The association was determined using the chi-square test, a value of p <0.05 was used as statistically significant. Results: We showed association between the knowledge of harm to health and alcohol and tobacco consumption in students of 5th grade of the IEN school "Centro San Juan" San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, with a OR of 3.2 which was Statistically significant; On the other hand, it was also associated with alcohol and tobacco consumption, intrafamily violence with an OR of 2.7, antecedents of consumption in parents with an OR of 2.4, low school performance with an OR of 1.5, gender with an OR of 4.45 Which were also statistically significant. Conclusion: We conclude that there is an association between knowledge of harm to health and consumption of alcohol and tobacco, in addition we have that domestic violence, antecedent of consumption in the parents, low school performance and gender had a relationship that was statistically significant.
