| Abstract | EnglishThe article aims to investigate how the concept of civility was developed in Norbert Elias' work, especially in the works "The Civilizing Process", volumes 1 and 2, based on the transformations that occurred between the Middle Ages and the beginning of the XIX century. Behaviors related to posture at the table, dress code and vocabulary are elements that have changed and as a consequence have become more polite and courteous, while society went through the process of creation of Modern States. It will outline the principles on the decadence of the society of cut and, against this scenario, the alterations in the social structures and the modifications in the relations between the individuals will be analyzed. portuguesO artigo tem como proposta de estudo investigar como se desenvolveu o conceito de civilidade na obra de Norbert Elias, em especial, nas obras O Processo Civilizador, volumes 1 e 2, com base nas transformacoes ocorridas entre a Idade Media e o inicio do seculo XIX. Os comportamentos referentes a postura a mesa, a vestimenta e ao vocabulario na sociedade de corte sao elementos que sofreram alteracoes e, como consequencia, tornaram-se mais polidos e corteses, ao passo que a sociedade passava pelo processo de criacao dos Estados Modernos. Delineiam-se os principios sobre a decadencia da sociedade de corte e, diante desse cenario, sao analisadas as alteracoes nas estruturas sociais e as modificacoes nas relacoes entre os individuos. |
