| Abstract | The purpose of this project was to determine whether the implementation of writing in a secondary math class would improve students' understanding of math concepts. The researcher implemented the project in a Midwestern state within a high school math class with twenty-four students. These students were required to solve a series of algebra problems and explain, in writing, how they arrived at the solution. The students' written products were assessed using a rubric. The data indicated that writing in a math class might have assisted the students in understanding math concepts. Table of |
