Abstract	Were evaluated the effects of environment on the percentage of total solids of bulk tank samples collected by the industries, analyzed at the Milk Quality Laboratory Analysis of the Holstein Association of Parana, Curitiba - PR . A total of 1,950,034 bulk tank milk samples from ten regions of the state of Parana were analyzed between January 2005 and April 2012. The estimated averages, standard deviations and coefficient of variation for % total solids and sample age in days were: 12.29 ± 0.85; 6.79% and 2.98 ± 1.57 days, respectively. All the variables included in the mathematical model (month and year of analysis, region, age of the sample and score the somatic cell count) significantly influenced (P<0.01) the variable studied. The highest values for the % total solids occurred in May (12.46 ± 0.0023), in 2012 (12.37 ± 0.0026), in Curitiba (12.42 ± 0.0017 ), with six days of age of the sample (12.27 ± 0.0030) and when the score of the somatic cell count (ECS) ranged from zero to six (zero to 1,130,000 cells / mL) at % total solids increased from 12.03 to 12.30%, respectively. The Pearson correlation between % total solids with ECS was low and positive (0.039).
