| Abstract | This research focuses on the career analysis of judges appointed to the appellate court in the state of Paraná from the ranks serving in 2006.It seeks to advance the understanding of the recruitment process for judges and also attorneys and prosecutors and if it results in diversity of composition and their orientation within the appellate court. To achieve that, an extensive research on educational, social and career background was done in order to determine the possible influence of these factors on the judicial orientation of the judges. The composition of the appellate court is fairly homogenous when related to the social status, graduate school background and the career advancement. After in-depth analysis one can note that even though there is no apparent clash of opinions related to their respective careers, there is certain plurality when it comes to the judicial orientation and that is an element inherent in their professional environment. |
