| Abstract | Effect of stage of lactation and parity order on the somatic cell content was studied in 143 female crossbreed goat using California Mastitis Test (CMT) and Somatic Cell Count (SCC). Milk samples were collected every 15 days during seven months and only samples bacteriologically negative were submitted to a SCC. It was observed a significant effect (P < 0,05) on SCC and CMT. The SCC mean to all the lactation period was 820 x 10 3 cells/mL, while that the CMT was 1.0 (reaction traces). The oscillation means values from cell count observed in this study proved that physiologicals factors interfere in cell content of the udder. So, we can suggest that during the interpretation of these tests it is necessary to evaluate the factors involved at the moment. |
