| Abstract | This project assignment addresses the status of interpreters, their responsibilities and the way they fit in the context of globalization, in the face of its new assumptions, facing conformist and non-conformist views that broaden new horizons, at a time that seems to be increasingly faster. Quality assessment of their performance will also deserve careful consideration. Referring to the range of issues involved in the above mentioned activities, examples of effective implementation will be analyzed in context by the author, namely: two simultaneous interpretation assignments live on television and a consecutive and whispered interpretation assignment at a conference – all recorded on DVD. This is intended to give a better insight at the intersection between, on the one hand, the service provider self-assessment, as a corollary to his experience; and, on the other hand, judgement from clients and peer review. By reporting practical difficulties of this profession, one intended to indicate possible solutions which could contribute to a better provision of interpreting services. |
