| Abstract | The attitude towards social limits of youngsters from several religions was investigated: Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. The sample consisted of 120 youngsters from the city of Toluca aged 12 to 20 years, 50% male and 50% female, and 40 of each religious group. The Mexican version of the Attitude Scale Social Limits (Rink, Boersma, Lutje Spelberg y Vos, 2000) was applied. It was found that a generalized tendency towards adjusting to social limits prevails among the youngsters, as this proved to be the best known and the most preferred reaction. In the comparison of the attitudes by religious group, statistically significant differences were found: the Catholic youngsters overstep social limits relatively more often, whereas the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses tend more towards adjusting and negotiating. The most frequently overstepped limits were observing good manners, not using physical violence against persons and taking care of the natural environment. |
