| Abstract | Abstrato: Este artigo aborda o tema cultura e mudanca em instituicoes policiais militares e se fundamenta teoricamente nos preceitos de cultura e mudancas nas organizacoes de Edgar Schein (2009) e Fleury e Fischer (2007). O objetivo geral foi analisar, a partir do discurso do alto Comando da Instituicao, se ocorreram mudancas na cultura organizacional da Policia Militar de Minas Gerais apos o periodo de redemocratizacao e promulgacao da constituicao de 1988, mais especificamente nos anos de 1988/89, 1997 e 2002/2003. A escolha dos periodos se justifica pelo fato destes representarem momentos significativos para a organizacao: 1988/89 promulgacao das Constituicoes Federal e Estadual, 1997 eclosao do movimento reivindicatorio dos policiais militares mineiros e 2002/03 implantacao do modelo de planejamento estrategico. Foi desenvolvida uma pesquisa qualitativa por meio de um estudo de caso, em que os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas com os ex-Comandantes Gerais, policiais militares de diferentes niveis hierarquicos, analise de documentos produzidos pela instituicao e bibliografia sobre o tema. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram policiais militares que vivenciarem os periodos mencionados e os resultados permitiram concluir que houve uma intencao por parte do comando da Policia Militar de Minas Gerais de promover mudanca na cultura organizacional da corporacao, principalmente a partir dos periodos mencionados. Abstract: This article approaches the subject of culture and change in military police institutions and is based theoretically on the culture precepts and organizational changes of Edgar Schein (2009) and Fleury and Fischer (2007). The general objective was to analyze the changes in the organizational culture of the Minas Gerais Military Police following the period of redemocratization and promulgation of the 1988 constitution, specifically in the years 1988/89, 1997 and 2002/2003. The choice of periods is justified by the fact that these represent significant moments for the organization: 1988/89 promulgation of the Federal and State Constitutions, 1997 eruption of the movement of the military police of Minas Gerais and implementation of the strategic planning model. A qualitative research was developed through a case study, in which the data were collected through interviews with the former General Commanders, military police of different levels hierarchical analysis of documents produced by the institution and bibliography on the subject. The subjects of the research were military police officers who experienced the mentioned periods and the results allowed to conclude that there was an intention on the part of the Military Police of Minas Gerais to promote change in the organizational culture of the corporation, mainly from the mentioned periods.
