| Abstract | More than 300 reverse osmosis systems (POI ) have been installed in 273 communities, in the State of Chihuahua. POI, concentrate the contaminant in the wastewater. Inappropriate disposal of such wastes is generating environmental problems in soil and surface water. The present study is aimed to analyze the environmental impact of the wastewater disposal on agricultural land. The study revels high amounts of As in wastewater and its inappropriate disposition in several villages. Results indicated that 58% of wastewater is discharged in the sewer systems, 18% is used for agricultural irrigation.
