| Abstract | This study presents the pedagogical and political project of the preparation course for psychology professors of the Psychology Institute of University of São Paulo. The project relates the Institute with the need for more democratic policies, which would enable the access to public universities through the improvement of Basic Education. It raises the following issue: what is the social role nowadays of the professor and of the psychology subject for the students? To answer this question it's important to think about the individualization and blaming processes originated in social problems. [Believing in the strengh of educational actions to improve burocratic issues, we discuss here some topics considered] important tools for preparing psychology students on Basic Education. This study presents general principles to prepare psychology professors and some general aspects of the school curriculum organization. The compromising of the preparation course to improve public education is emphasized on its general principles, considering that trainings and building knowledge process must lead to elaborate effective actions both for preparing faculty members and for improving the school itself. Toward that, it is necessary to provide tools to the future professors, so they can adequate reflections and actions when facing the institutional and public scope of education.
