| Abstract | In this work we investigate in which sense and amount do the early years fundamental level teachers take students affection into account in order to promote math learning in their pedagogical praxis. Considering the work complexity, it was necessary a reality and context interpretation based research. That is why Qualitative Epistemology was used in the present study. Participating Research was also used through the entire process considering the participating and contributing scope of the work. The study was applied in a fundamental level fourth year grade classroom of a public school in Brasília. The main instruments used to data construction were field research notebook and non-directive interview of both teachers and students. The results have shown the importance of the teacher to consider the student as a whole and not only as a cognitive being. It is then important to consider the manifested math learning students affection. The teachers behavior must be in line with affective, social and cognitive students needing. Our observations shows that students always manifest affection in performing math activities. Data analysis allowed us to conclude the necessity of a reason to stimulate students learning. We also verified many events where the mathematic knowledge is desired, generating satisfaction in reaching this goal. On the other hand if this goal is not achieved, a great deal of disappointment is obtained. The research also has shown that certain teachers activity and methodologies, such as tests, generate stress. Also, we have seen that many times the teacher knows the importance of affection in classroom and pedagogical work organization but uses this knowledge to obtain class control. The study revealed that teachers sometimes uses affection manifestation in favor to math learning and sometimes to repress their students. |
